Your Entrepreneurship Story

Hi Everyone! My name is Sophia Rodriguez and I am a first-year student at the Warrington College of Business studying Business Administration. My Entrepreneurship story opens up in February 2018, in my junior year of high school. Before seeking out Business as one of my designated career paths, I was considering pursuing a career in Pediatric Psychiatry. Soon after, I realized it wasn't for me. I was told about a club called Interact Club that emphasized the network and entrepreneurship skills needed for the workforce and I fell in love with the concept. I loved it so much because I got to meet people from all around the world because one of the club's mission is to promote international understanding. I fell in love with the process of meeting people and learning more about their cultures that broadened my career and personal horizons to farther than ever. In my senior year of high school, I decided to run for president of the club and organization and I got the position. I helped expand the club's 15 members to 45 members for 2018-2019. I am guessing that my club marketing worked out because a lot of people joined to learn more about the importance of networking and entrepreneurship in a career path. I enrolled in ENT3003: Principles of Entrepreneurship this summer as I am pursuing an administrative career path. With this class, I want to learn more about entrepreneurship philosophy and how it plays a role in our society. Much of what I want to take away from this class is that of building better leadership skills and how to improve my problem-solving skills across various issues. This is my Entrepreneurship Story.

  1. Hi Sophia,

I enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story. What a go-getter you are for joining that club in High School and growing its membership 300%. I can definitely see you are driven and eager to grow during your time at UF. Just from your comments, I sense you enjoy meeting people of different cultures and understanding their lifestyle. I believe your work this semester in our class will help build on the foundation you began during High School in the Interact Club. This was smart of you to enroll in our class so early in your college years.

    Good Luck!

    Bridget
